Social Justice by Jeff Goins on 11/7/2009
Tell a story, win a prize. It's that simple.

At
Wrecked.org, we're teaming up with our friends at
Faceless International (we've had coffee with them, so it's a
legitimate friendship) to offer you some free stuff, if you just share
a little blurb about your passion for justice, what it means to give
faces to the faceless, or a story about something meaningful that
you've been a part of.
For me, the concept of dignity really hit home when I was getting
to know a homeless community in downtown Nashville.
One night, my
friend and I encountered a man who had gotten in to a fight and was
bleeding so badly that we had to call an ambulance (which took
forever). As we were waiting for the paramedics to show up, this man
whose nose was bleeding profusely (it's hard to stop blood from flowing
when there is a lot of alcohol in a person's bloodstream). Most of us
were keeping our distance from the guy, because every once in awhile,
he'd sneeze blood all over the place. One woman, however -- a homeless
woman -- stayed by his side, using her sleeve to continually wipe the
blood from his face.
When I think about dignity
-- about giving voices and faces to those who normally are marginalized
-- I always think of that picture that has been ingrained into my soul.
What's an example where you've seen someone go above and beyond to give dignity to the poor and marginalized?
