There are all kinds of strategies out there on how to get people to read your blog. There are all sorts of blogs about blogging and SEO and a bunch of other terms involving complex algorithms that may just confuse and frustrate you.

Don't get me wrong -- I love that stuff. It's fun for me to discover new ways to drive traffic to your website. And there are some great resources out there on how to do it.

How to get people to read your blogFor instance, you could read this article from the Blog Herald: "How to get Me to Read Your Blog".

Or, you could, of course, take a page from blogging master Seth Godin's playbook: "How to get traffic to your blog".

You could even attempt to meet an audaciously bold goal like this one by the guy who promises to teach people how to be rich: "How to get 150,000 people to read your blog post 1 week".

All of the above wouldn't be bad ideas to consider if you want to get more people to read your blog, but here's where I'd recommend you start: with 10 people.

Start by reading and commenting on 10 other blogs by 10 different people.

It sounds simple, and it is. Anyone can do this, but most don't. Frankly, you have no right to complain about people not reading and commenting on your blog, if you haven't taken the time to first show interest in at least 10 other people.

Most who complain about blog traffic aren't doing this. They're too lazy or "don't have the time" or still think it's all about them. Once you've done this, try it with another 10. Drip by drip, you'll find a tribe of people interested in you, as you've shown interest in them. It'll take some time probably, but if you continue to sow into other people's lives, you'll see a return.

And in the process, you might just learn a thing or two about the world not revolving around you. I'm just sayin'.
