Short-term Missions by Jeff Goins on 4/4/2009
Thanks to all those who are praying while I'm on this mission trip Costa Rica. I realize that for many, it helps to know where I'll be and what I'll be doing at a given time. So, here's a loose schedule during our time in Filadelfia:
Apr 4 - We will make final preparations for the American youth group that will be coming in the evening. I will pick up the group at the airport, introduce them to the host pastor, and go over some basic ground rules for the week with them.
Apr 5 - As a group, we will go to church, eat lunch, and then do an afternoon outreach to the community. The specifics of this will be determined once we meet with the pastor and figure out the needs of the community.
Apr 6 - In the morning, we'll do VBS for the children, and in the afternoon we'll do sports outreach and door-to-door evangelism. This will continue for the next few days.
Apr 7 - Morning VBS. Afternoon sports outreach.
Apr 8 - Morning VBS. Afternoon construction project for church / sports outreach.
Apr 9 - Morning VBS. Afternoon sports outreach.
Apr 10 - Day off. We will take the group (and invite the pastor and his wife) to do some kind of fun excursion as a reward for all of their diligent work.
Apr 11 - Arrive at the airport early in the morning, fly out at 8am, have another layover in ATL, and arrive in Nashville around 4:30pm.
Praying for safety tomorrow and that you'll adjust back to the States in the way that God would have you adjust. Cryptic, I know. But only HE knows how He wants you to settle back in and how He DOESN'T want you to settle back in.
Excited for y'all,
Elysa
